COMPETITION: Story in Nature ✍️

:mega: Calling all creative writers and environmental storytellers! :mega: :writing_hand:

The Tree Council is looking to celebrate your literary talents and passion for trees and nature! :deciduous_tree: :evergreen_tree:

Your Task:

Write a poem or story that will inspire others to support trees and nature, too. You might want to capture the majesty of an ancient tree, the might and power of a tiny ant or the magic that transforms a tiny acorn into a giant oak. Whatever sparks your imagination could ignite wonder in others too!

Who can enter?

Anyone aged 7 - 16 can enter. This year there are new categories, poetry and prose (fiction and non-fiction), with two age bands for each (under 11 and 11 - 15 yrs old). A winner will be chosen from each category and age band. From these four categories and overall winner will be selected.

What are the judges looking for?

  • Connection with trees and nature: a close relationship and emotional connection with the natural surroundings.
  • Message: a positive message of hope that encourages others to support nature.
    • Originality: a unique approach that stands out from the other entries.
  • Language and imagery: a choice of words and imagery that captures the attention and imagination.

Entries should be no more than 500 words.
